Richard Taylor serves as Chairman of CleanStar Brasil Bioenergia Ltda. Richard brings to the company over 30 years of international business experience in engineering, commercial, business development, strategy and leadership roles.

Richard retired as President of BP Brazil in 2008, after a 23-year career with BP in oil and gas exploration, production operations, marketing and business development throughout many parts of the world. Within Brazil, Richard led BP’s efforts in the exploration for offshore oil and gas in the deepwater Amazon and SE Brazilian regions, in the establishment of a gas marketing business across Latin America, and in the development of new clean energy, biofuels and lubricants business operations in Brazil.

Richard now works on clean energy venture capital projects, and the development of new businesses in the energy and education sectors. He is the founding Director of the International Business Academy for Development, delivering research, consulting and advanced executive development programs in Brazil, China and Europe. Richard also chairs a start-up business, Terra Energias, developing a talented team and a sound business plan, with robust governance, safety and environmental processes for high performance operations in Brazil. He also provides consultancy services with Taylor Energies Consultoria.

Richard is an Honorary Life Councillor of the British Chamber of Commerce in Brazil, and has organized and chaired many international seminars on significant business issues. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers in London. Richard is a graduate of Emmanuel College, Cambridge University, and has an MBA from Warwick Business School in the UK.
