United States-Sub-Saharan Africa Trade and Economic Cooperation Forum (AGOA Forum), Washington DC
CleanStar Ventures will present about CleanStar Mozambique at the AGOA Forum organized by the US International Trade Administration. The African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) was signed into law on May 18, 2000 as Title 1 of The Trade and Development Act of 2000. The Act aims at promoting trade between the US and countries in Sub-Saharan Africa.

CleanStar Mozambique Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
CleanStar Mozambique, together with CleanStar Ventures, Novozymes, ICM and Bank of America Merrill Lynch celebrated the opening of the world’s first sustainable cooking fuel facility with a 3-day event in Maputo, Beira and Dondo. International guests and local Government representatives attended the ceremony.

Secretary’s Global Impact Economy Forum, Washington D.C.

In November 2011, Secretary of State Hillary R. Clinton announced her support for and commitment to a shift in U.S. development assistance policy from donor-driven aid to catalytic investments that make up an innovation-based Impact Economy. ECOWAS Regional Bioenergy Forum, Bamako Mali
Stefan Maard, Senior Sustainability Advisor, participated to the Bio-energy Forum for the ECOWAS Region held in Bamako, Mali. The Forum was co-organized by the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) and the Global Bioenergy Partnership (GBEP). The meeting initiated a regional dialogue and peer-to-peer learning to support ECOWAS Member States in developing regional and national bioenergy strategies, which will help meet energy needs and create a vibrant and sustainable modern bioenergy sector that promotes economic growth, rural development, and poverty alleviation.

Energy For All: Financing Energy Access for the Poor, Oslo
At the invitation of the Government of Norway and the International Energy Agency, Novozymes and CleanStar attended a high-level conference in Oslo on 10th and 11th October 2011, focused on financing energy access solutions at the Base of the Pyramid.
On 11th October, Novozymes and CleanStar presented a case study on CleanStar Mozambique, and led a discussion focused on scaling and replicating the business throughout sub-Saharan Africa.

UN Private Sector Forum 2011:
Sustainable Energy for All, New York
Thomas Nagy of Novozymes led a roundtable discussion on “Access to Cleaner Stoves and Fuel for Cooking” at the UN Private Sector Forum on Tuesday 20 September 2011, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
During this roundtable, Novozymes briefed attendees about the investment in CleanStar Mozambique and the viability of upgrading urban African households from charcoal to ethanol cooking.
