Processing

Processing

CleanStar builds and operates both community-based and centralised processing infrastructure, enabling additional value to be added to intermediate crops such as cassava and soybean, to produce a range of food, feed and cooking fuel products.

Creating Jobs in Rural Communities
By establishing community-based buying and processing centres, CleanStar creates jobs in the same communities that are home to its smallholder farming partners.

This strategy aligns directly aligns the community’s interests with those of the company, whilst at the same time enabling the processing of surpluses that would otherwise rot due to the speed of post-harvest deterioration, such as cassava.

Integrated Food and Energy Systems
Our Integrated Agroprocessing Facility at Dondo in central Mozambique will produce a range of food, feed and cooking fuel products for Mozambican markets.

Rural communities are currently supplying the urban demand for cooking fuel via charcoal, whilst being excluded from much of the processed-food demand that is met by imports. Our integrated approach allows rural communities to supply the urban demand for both processed food and cooking fuel in a sustainable and profitable manner.
